Surf Season is Here!

We are happy to bring you good news from Bali! Indonesian President Joko Widodo has declared that he expects to fully reopen Bali to foreign tourists by June or July of this year. The president made his statement while visiting Bali last week to check on the progress of the island’s COVID-19 vaccination campaign.

Indonesia’s Tourism Minister Sandiaga Uno echoed the president’s optimism this week, saying that if Bali’s current vaccination rates stay on track, June/July of this year is a realistic time frame to reopen international borders for tourism.

“If people comply with the protocols while testing and vaccination program goes smoothly, I’m sure that our border will be fully reopened in the near future.”

– Sandiaga Uno, Tourism Minister of Indonesia

Surf Season is Here!

The blue skies and clean swells have returned here in Uluwatu. The ocean is smooth, the swell lines are reliably rolling in, and the only sign of the rainy season is the lush forest canopy and green grass on our Uluwatu cliff front. Those friendly light offshore trade winds are back and the swell forecast for the rest of March and into April is looking excellent.

Be among the first to get in on what is looking to be another historically uncrowded surf season here in Uluwatu!

A full house of guests joined us for Nyepi this year. We celebrated the Balinese New Year with peace, serenity and spiritual renewal on the cliffs above Uluwatu.

Our Nyepi guests explored our lush gardens, private beach access and temple tour in our vintage Land Rover (before & after Nyepi), practiced yoga from their cliff front villas beside private pools, or just lay in the hammock with a good book while the trade winds tickled their feet.

Kelly Slater puts on a show in front of USV along with Strider Wasilewski, Rizal Tandjung and Betet Merta.

Koa Smith’s Land Rover Adventure

In addition to Hamilton and Slater, 2020 also saw several of the best in their field come to stay with us at the villas, including Championship Tour surfers Kolohe Andino and Griffin Colapinto, Dutch footballer Marc Klok and award-winning Indonesian actress Raline Shah.

What did they all have in common? They all wanted to go for a spin in our vintage Land Rover Adventure Wagons! But the award for best USV Land Rover Adventure goes to world-class tube hunter and Surfer Poll Award winner Koa Smith. Koa and his friends loaded up our USV Land Rover and hit the road to discover one of the longest (and glassiest) barrels of the 2020 season in Indonesia. See Koa’s full score below…
