What a year! In 2022 it was on, and we finally got to see you all again! We’ve been busy creating. We built a skate park and a new ocean level deck, hosted five different film nights, added a quiver of beautiful custom Pyzel shapes to our board room and hosted a series of electrifying workshops. We kicked off two event series at Mana – live jazz nights on Wednesdays and neighborhood poolside beers with Island Brewing on Fridays. We were honored to host some of the raddest families in surfing such as the Goodwins, Del Moros, Florences, Fletchers, Freestones, Pyzels, Vaughns and the Stedmans. We know now it all runs in the family. This year was a great run of swells and we had some of the world’s best here to surf and document the action. We got to surf with Kelly Slater, Mason and Coco Ho, Ian Crane, Katie Simmers, Ozzie Wright, Cayla Moore, Clay Marzo, Bronson Meydi, Benji Brand and Erik Geisleman. The Billabong crew stopped by with Griffin Colapinto, Seth Moniz, Ethan Ewing and Barron Mamiya. ![]() Kelly Slater with a quick wave check before paddling out. Film Nights We hosted film nights to fascinate and deepen our Indonesian knowledge, showing Threads of Life’s exploration of the archipelago’s weavers and The 1928 Archive Foundation’s deep old school Bali footage. We also had film nights that stoked us out, with Billabong and Stab High. Did you miss our free entry event on the cliff when we premiered The Yin & Yang of Gerry Lopez back in October? Built entirely of reclaimed hardwoods and large enough for small yoga groups or intimate parties, you can access it anytime via the private stairs to the beach. Morning yoga on the new deck. Swells for Days The swell was endless and offshore all through out the dry season, with some stand out days at the bombie while Kelly was here. We enjoyed surfing with all of you who joined, and we can’t wait to share waves again. ![]() Kelly Slater setting up. Shot by Margarita Salyak. ![]() Given Goodwin. Workshops Hosting regular workshops with local artists in our loft at Mana has been a great way to connect more to our creative side and learn new skills. Guests and friends learned to paint in the Batuan style, made their own ceramic clay pieces, and dyed totes bag using the cyanotype process. We are looking to expand this into a bigger variety of artistic practises including plant alchemy in 2023! ![]() Batuan Painting by Made Griyawan ![]() Ceramics Workshop with Gusti Dalem The Jay House We built a 100% reclaimed timber villa with surfer and artist Jay Nelson and we are delighted with how it turned out. Made entirely from teak and ironwood without any concrete or steel in the structure, the details are alive in every seam. Our new video tells the story and process of the combined efforts of our Master Carpenter Triono, Tim Russo and the Uluwatu Building Company, and Jay Nelson. It’s the newest addition to the USV Residences neighborhood. Click the above image to see the full video. Don’t miss out in 2023! We’d love to see you again, or meet you for the first time. Contact us to ask about special offers for February & January. Looks like the remainder of the year is filling up fast! Rainbow at Cliff Front One. Shot by Scotty Hammonds. |
