Our 2nd Annual Bowl Jam with Sky Brown and friends!

The USV Bowl Jam, hosted by Sky and Ocean Brown, featured skaters from around the world, including Yurin Fujii, Nyimas Bunga Cinta, Kisa Nakamura, and Kako Yoshida. The highlight was the women's contributions, with Lauren Hill expressing her experience of questioning belonging in a lineup. Tunes were provided by Kuta punk band The Sneakers, and cold beers and hot pizza were provided by Mana restaurant.

Solid Swells, Natural Highs, & The Goons of Doom

September and October have been consistent with non-stop waves in Bali, with clean, well-groomed lines wrapping into Uluwatu and across the Bukit peninsula. The offshore trades and swell created a strong up-welling of cooler water temps, so it’s still a good idea to bring a 1mm or 2mm top to surf in here at Uluwatu. Brandon Wahlers, an expert spear fisherman, returned with a 30+ kilo doggy after borrowing a big blue water elite Riffe gun off the racks over at Drifter Surf shop .

WAVE KI, Greyson Fletcher, and here comes the Dry Season!

Brad Gerlach will be hosting a Wave Ki retreat at Uluwatu Surf Villas in September that offers guests personalized coaching and group classes. Greyson Fletcher and videographer Max Desantis collaborated on an impressive edit of Greyson skating the bowl during his stay with us. In addition, we hosted an art show featuring Indonesian artists for the launch of EMOCEAN's new issue and have decided to continue hosting monthly art shows.

EMOCEAN & Guy Hastings

We launched Emocean issue 4, showcased Guy Hastings' map of the property, and have upcoming retreats with Josh Kramer and Gusti Dalem's Wheel-Throwing Ceramics Workshop. We also hosted a talk by Lawrence Blair the author of The Ring of Fire. The near-shore blue remains our greatest treasure.

Newsletter Year in Review

In 2022, we built a skate park and ocean-level deck, hosted five film nights, added custom Pyzel boards, and held cool workshops. We also started live jazz Wednesdays and poolside beers with Island Brewing Fridays at Mana. It's been a great year and we're thrilled for what 2023 has to bring!

Our new bowl was recently tested by Greyson Fletcher, our skilled surfer and skater and friend. His enthusiastic feedback was, "The bowl is so much fun!" In addition, we have recently released a short documentary showcasing our remarkable Villa, which was designed by Tim Russo and Jay Nelson.

October 2022 Newsletter

After much effort, our ocean deck construction is complete. Crafted from reclaimed teak and ironwood, it is accessible to all guests via the same stairs leading to the private beach. Two unforgettable film nights were held, including the Patagonia and Gerry Lopez event, which exceeded our expectations and featured exciting footage from BaliBali and G-land.

We will be hosting an Unmissable Cliff Front Screening, featuring the highly anticipated film "The Yin & Yang of Gerry Lopez," presented by Patagonia Films and directed by the award-winning Stacy Peralta. The event kicks off with a mesmerizing performance by the traditional dance troop Bumi Bajra. We're also excited to announce that construction is underway for The Residences at Uluwatu Surf Villas, which will comprise 11 stunning residences upon completion.

Legendary board shaper Jon Pyzel has created the ultimate Uluwatu quiver of boards for our guests to enjoy during their stay with us. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for the grand opening of our new skate park, expertly built by the talented team at Motion Skatepark Co. Additionally, we were honored to host a one-day workshop by Balinese painter Made Griyawan. And finally, we're excited to share that our friend Elora Hardy has authored a new Assouline book about Bali, which is a must-read for anyone interested in this enchanting island.
